Here are some images from the cup game vs R.H.Costorphine played at Royal High School, Edinburgh....well, to say we 'played' is an exaggeration! Having had the match postponed from last Sunday due to a waterlogged pitch, we turned up after work in eager anticipation of some action.
Instead we were greeted by more drizzle and another waterlogged pitch. The captains decided to have a bowl-out and settle it there and then. Costorphine won the toss and decided to have a go first.
The setup: Five bowlers, 2 goes each, and 2 neutral, East-League umpires to make sure there was no over-stepping.
In the event, there weren't any no-balls, and, of the 20 balls bowled, only 5 hit the stumps. Fortunately, 3 of them were ours, including the only double-strike of the match by Manju, who seems incapable of doing wrong these days.
The scores were level at 2-2 when Manish, our last bowler, struck in his second attempt and won us a place in the next round.
The amicable atmosphere between the sides masked our disappointment. Another fixture succumbs to the weather!

The team arrive in a flurry of kit and ponderous faces
The wicket being unplayable, a bowl-out on the artificial was agreed...
...wherupon we all got some bowling practice in.
"Play", declares the League umpire.
Costorphine kick off, and are soon 1-0 up.
Manju's 2 in 2 put us ahead. Irfan tries to extend the lead as the others look on anxiously.
Manish, last up for Boroughmuir, picks up the ball....his first shot misfires, with the score still on 2-2....but he keeps his head and hits with his second!
